Much like her father, Hazzard, Murdie is an outstanding scenting dog. She has been praised by evaluators for being incredibly detailed and methodical, earning the praise of “if I had a crime scene to detail that looked like this, I would reach for the Dal in a heartbeat”.

Murdie (and Hazzard) is a very “honest” dog. If she doesn’t find a scent, she won’t alert. She doesn’t fall for tricks like food or toys. If she tells you something is there, it’s there.

Murdie and I are working towards certification as a cadaver dog. After years of working with sport scent dogs and loving the training and process, I am excited about the opportunity to take our training to another level, with a deeper understanding of how scent works with our incredible dogs, and with the opportunity to volunteer and make a difference in our community.

Following in big sister Murdie’s pawprints, Calamity has begun his early training which includes both scent work and environmental training to be as sure and steady in a variety of situations as Murdie is.
